Inspired by a photograph taken on my best friend’s birthday, the series *happy new year* emerged, in which an apparent turn of the year materializes in the heat of August in Vienna, raising questions about temporality and the shifting of moments. The series consists of five ceramic plates with ruffled edges, onto which photographs are mounted and pierced with roofing nails. Slogans, everyday scenes, and memories overlap to form a collage-like structure spanning the years 2009 to 2024–26. “happy new year” is conceived as an exploration of preservation and superimposition—as a pictorial space in which different temporal planes, states, and meanings intertwine.
